My first post was given some considerable thought with respect to the title – a Top 50 might be considered a little too much. I considered calling it a Top 35; being the mark of having more than a 1.000 fans. However, as I suppose more and more hotels will invest more time (and money) in this channel in pursuit of actively interacting and communicating with their fans, fanbases will grow rapidly over time. In due course I might therefore reconsider changing.
This week’s ‘Top 50 Algarve Hotels on Facebook’ shows the Pousadas holding the number 1 spot, whilst the first independent hotel the Longevity Resort in Monchique can be found at the third spot. Regularly this list will be updated on hotels moving up or down the table, showing new entries, while indicating who gained the most fans or “market share”.

The list is based on the number of fans the Facebook page has and is open to all hotels in the Algarve. This list only considers Facebook Pages as opposed to groups and personal profiles.
One might argue that independent hotels should not be compared with chains, but at this stage I choose to include them. What is your opinion? Leave your suggestions by clicking underneath the link “Comment”.
Today I received a few comments, which I will consider. One was related to my original comment that the selection of Hotels should be narrowed to those predominantely pertaining to the Algarve.
Another, I had thought of after posting, but was reminded that it might be helpful to link the various hotels to their facebook pages.
